There's just 1 hotel within 10 kilometres of central Chikusei, so you'll need to move faster than a kid on red cordial if you want somewhere to stay close by.

In terms of a central location, you can't beat Hotel Route-Inn Shimodate. It's a fabulous place to unwind after touring your way around downtown Chikusei.

The Hotel Route-Inn Mooka is 17 kilometres away from the centre of Chikusei, and the Daiwa Roynet Hotel Tsukuba is 25 kilometres away. Everyone knows Aussies just love to have a good time, so consider kicking back a little longer and going to the Kinu Green Park and Shinohara House in Utsunomiya, 35 kilometres to the north of Chikusei. Utsunomiya hotels and accommodations include the Hotel Route-Inn Utsunomiya and Hotel Higashinihon Utsunomiya. Or, you could consider staying in Oizumi-machi, 50 kilometres to the west of Chikusei, where you can pick from the Hotel Route-Inn Ota and Hotel Monteroza Ohta. Tsuruuda River and Kondonuma Park are up there with the most popular sites to see while in Oizumi-machi.

Sitting 70 kilometres from Chikusei is Nikko, a regional hub with a population of 16,000. It's home to some awesome attractions, like Akechidaira Plateau, Kegon Waterfall and Kanmangafuchi Abyss.
