It's 220 kilometres to the south of Washington, the capital city of United States of America.

Make your way to Surry, 30 kilometres northwest, and see Jamestown Settlement. Other notable attractions here include the Historic Jamestowne.

Spend at least a few hours enjoying the refreshing ocean breeze and collecting shells by the water's edge at Buckroe Beach or Sandbridge Beach.

Escape on a trip to some surrounding natural attractions. 35 kilometres out of Battery Park, Colonial Williamsburg Visitor Center is all yours to discover. Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, 45 kilometres away, is another fabulous spot to immerse yourself in nature.

You shouldn't miss the picturesque surrounds of Windsor Castle Park. It's a fine place to take full advantage of a pleasant day.

Sports fans won't be left out in the cold during their visit. John B. Todd Stadium is 11 kilometres away in Newport News and an ideal place to get your sporting fix. Make sure you check the event calendar to find out what's on.

Looking for even more things to see and do? Go to Smithfield, 8 kilometres west of Battery Park, for St. Luke's Church and Carrollton Nike Park. Alternatively, Poquoson is 25 kilometres to the northeast, and it's here you'll come across the Air Power Park and Sandy Bottom Nature Park.

About 35 kilometres to the northwest, Williamsburg is a destination with lots to offer. Governor's Palace, the College of William and Mary and Williamsburg Premium Outlets are all quite close. That said, Bruton Parish Church and the Kimball Theater are also worthy.
