Have stayed at the Metropolitan quite a few times. It is a very reliably good place to stay. They have a lot of room amenities (I cannot remember them all from our stay last month but I recall being impressed). It is close to the subway lines. There have a lot of staff in the lobby to help visitors. Ikebukuro has a lively vibe and lots of restaurants and department stores.

I had a very satisfying stay here as the hotel is conveniently located for my needs. The staff are professional and efficient. I was upgraded to floor 23 (booking was for floor 16 to 21) but in a similar room. I was able to get a check out at 1pm, an hour later than the usual check out time of 12 noon, though only after I agreed to pay the required 2,000 yen. The only issue was the lack of power outlets close to the bedside to charge the phone overnight while having it within reach.

This is my third time traveling to Tokyo. And I will have to say that this was the worst I stayed in. I know that rooms in Japan are usually smaller than average. However, this room had absolutely no storage availability whatsoever. Coupled with the fact that it was extremely small made it very difficult to navigate with two people staying in the room. I thought that I would get a room upgrade because of the VIP benefits through Expedia, but the staff seemed very adamant that the package that I paid for gave me the lowest tear room availability, which I was not aware of that when booking two major issues I had with the hotel are regarding the amenities. I purposely booked the hotel with the expectation of going to the gym every day, only to find out that the gym was not complementary. It required a payment of ¥2200. Every time I utilize the gym. This was not listed on any of the Expedia ads. And was a bit disappointing. The biggest disappointment however, came with their laundry service although they did offer laundry at ¥200. The machines were awful. What was supposed to be a quick 90min wash and dry, turned into a 4-5 dry as my clothes stayed damp even after extending the dry cycle several times and ultimately ending up costing me ¥2000. This process ruined a lot of my shirts and my clothes smelled of mildew. The staff was very accommodating rearing every other aspect and offered a boss service to the airport which was very convenient.
