Holidays in Thiruvalangadu

Yep. Wanderlust — it gets right into your soul. So, isn't it about time you planned your next adventure? Thiruvalangadu awaits!

It sits 1,750 kilometres south of India's capital, New Delhi.

Sitting 55 kilometres to the east, Marina Beach is a charming spot to spend a little time strolling along the shore. Elliot's Beach also offers some gorgeous scenery. You'll find it 55 kilometres to the east.

Spend some time exploring Mother Nature's handiwork at Pallikaranai Marsh Reserve Forest. This striking natural sight is just 50 kilometres away from Thiruvalangadu.

If you head 18 kilometres northwest from Thiruvalangadu, you'll come across Thiruthani. Some travellers like to use this as a base when visiting the GRT Institute of Engineering and Technology and the Thiruthani Murugan Temple.

Whether it's for some shopping or to explore the sights, locals and visitors alike often make the journey to Tirupati, 70 kilometres to the northwest. The Sri Venkateswara Museum, the Govindaraja Swami Temple and Asthana Mandapam are all within a stone's throw. That said, you wouldn't want to miss Chandragiri Palaces and Fort and Tumbhuru Teertham either.

Making your own custom itinerary is always great, but every now and then it's nice to let someone else make some decisions for you. Wildlife spotting tours and city walking tours provide an easy way to discover this destination.

Holidays aren't just for sitting around and putting your feet up — they're also about pushing yourself and experiencing different things. Add some extra thrills to your journey by trying paragliding.

Step off dry land and take in Tamil Nadu from another perspective. With a range of sensational activities like wind surfing and surfing available, it's a great playground for water lovers.

Explore the region's history museums and palaces. They are wonderful places to head to when it starts bucketing down.

If you were to ask some locals about places to go in the surrounding area, they'll often point you in the direction of the intriguing open-air markets.

If you're a history geek, you're sure to love the region's fortresses and historic palaces. Do some research before you go or make friends with the closest tour guide.

If you want an experience that goes beyond the physical world, you might like to visit some local temples. It's a fine opportunity to discover more about Thiruvalangadu's religion.

Your eyes shouldn't get to have all the fun while you're in Tamil Nadu. Give your taste buds a little love as well by sampling some of the local food and drink. After all, you haven't truly experienced a destination until you've tasted its flavours.

Lentils and spices are just a couple of typical ingredients used in many dishes here. If you don't have a taste for them already, you will by the end of your visit!

Of course, you can't go to Thiruvalangadu without digging into masala dosa (thin crepe with dips) or sambar (lentil and vegetable stew). Popular with the locals and considered regional specialties, they are an essential experience for any food-obsessed traveller.

'Stressed' spelled backwards is 'desserts', and that's no coincidence. There's no tastier way to let your cares melt away than with shahi tukda (bread pudding), a sweet treat that's often found on dining tables here.

Held on the 26th of January, Republic Day holds an important place in the hearts of the locals. It offers a great chance to discover the country's past and have some fun while you're at it!

From the centre of Thiruvalangadu, it's roughly 45 kilometres to the east to Chennai International Airport (MAA). This is the nearest airport. Make sure you allow yourself extra time to make your way there so you don't miss your flight.

Great staff and nice stay
"12 months since my last visit and the staff are even better than I remember. Arriving 2am you might except the “night” staff welcome but no smiling faces and helpful staff. The room is well equipped but the towels could do with changing as they are getting a bit scratchy but everything else is fine. ..."

Terrible ! Stay away
"The hotel was a nightmare! The condition of the room was terrible and the bathroom was beyond terrible. The location was very difficult as well. If you are here to visit the temple, this is not convenient at all. No UBER or taxi service in this location."
