Get to know the Chania that locals know by visiting Stilos. A neighbourhood 13 kilometres to the southeast, it's a fabulous place to get a feel for the area and those who live in it. Nikos Kazantzakis Airport is the nearest airport and the jumping off point for many travellers. After you've hauled your gear from the carousel and walked out of arrivals, you'll need to head 95 kilometres west to reach Stilos.
This city isn't short on sensational things to do, and many of them can be found near Stilos. It's no easy task to pick the leading sights here, but the Port of Souda and the Historical - Folklore Museum of Gavalochori are two you should not miss. The gotta-see sights of Souda Bay War Cemetery and Melidoni Hoehle are also waiting for you. While you're here, consider visiting a few other neighbourhoods to taste more of what Chania offers. Farangi and Samonas are some great areas that aren't too far away.
