Holidays in Sardinal

Your last holiday feel like it was years ago? Don't stress — book a ticket to Sardinal and you'll be away before you know it!

Calling into Potrero, 15 kilometres to the west, is on the list of many travellers. There's heaps of things to do and see here, such as Flamingo Beach and Conchal Beach.

Search for seashells to collect or try to spot small animals like starfish and seabirds at Hermosa Bay Beach and Coco Beach. You'll find these fabulous shorelines 8 kilometres and 8 kilometres away, respectively.

It's common knowledge that spending time outside is good for your health and happiness. Keeping that in mind, why don't you venture 35 kilometres out of Sardinal to Santa Rosa National Park? Barra Honda National Park, just 50 kilometres away, is one more recommended choice.

You won't have to skip your weekly game of golf. The Papagayo Golf and Country Club is available for friendly play.

There's even more to see and do just around the corner. Carpintero, 3 kilometres to the west, is known for Ocotal Beach and Haras del Mar Equestrian Center. Though, if Rocio's Kitchen and The Congo Trail Canopy Tour sound better to you, go 5 kilometres west from Sardinal to Artola.

Going to Liberia? This destination is just 25 kilometres to the northeast. If you're staying here a while, make sure you visit Church of La Ermita La Agonia, Liberia Parque Central and the Sabanero Statue. Also consider stopping in at Iglesia Inmaculada Concepción de María and the Museo de Guanacaste.

There's a world full of rich flavours waiting to two-step across your taste buds in North Pacific Coast. With so many decadent things to feast on, all you need to bring along is a hearty appetite — and perhaps a pair of stretchy slacks.

Typical fare here often includes pork and chicken, two of the staple ingredients for which the local area is known for serving up.

Ask a local what to eat in Sardinal and casado will probably be the first thing they advise. Arroz con pollo (rice and chicken) is another typical regional food you should keep a lookout for.

You can never have too much dessert on holiday, so why feel guilty for indulging in a little tres leches (custard flan)? It's worth every magnificent calorie!

For fans of a good pint, head to the nearest bar and ask for Bavaria. Enjoy a glass with a side of storytelling and mingling with the regulars.

For something a little stronger, enjoy a couple of shots of Ron Centenario. Drink it as it is or ask your barkeeper for mixer suggestions.

Make an effort to knock down that pesky language barrier by learning to say a few words and phrases in the local tongue. You'll gain a more satisfying experience and some new buddies while you're at it! 'Bien gracias, ¿y tú?' translates to 'fine thanks, and you?'. Another often used phrase is 'Buenas tardes' ('good afternoon').

Held annually on the 15th of September, Independence Day occupies an important place in the hearts and minds of the locals. It offers an excellent chance to discover the country's history and have a little fun while you're at it!

Like all good things in life, your time here will eventually come to an end. When it's time to pack up your belongings and leave, say one last "Adiós" and spend your remaining holiday allowance on some unique souvenirs.

With a little planning, making it to El Salvador International Airport (SAL), the closest airport, shouldn't be too difficult. It's some 490 kilometres northwest of downtown Sardinal.

My complaints are minimal. No atm on site so you either have to leave the resort to get some or just plan to bring more then you think you need. Restaurants are the worst….in the sense that if you don’t wait on line 2 hours before they open to get a seat then don’t bother wasting your time waiting ...
