Where to start? Access: Roads very poor, totally washed out in some areas. Prepare to get carsick. Room: Dated, ours smelt like pee near the closet (room 4041) and moldy when airconditioner was off. Aircon couldn't be properly controlled, nor could the fan or TV. Toilet water red at times. Key cards deactivated so many times it became routine for me to reset them every time before I went upstairs. Food: how do you make fruit tasteless? Donuts taste like bread? I had to spit out the duck I had at the Japanese restaurant. It was bad. You had to line up to reserve restaurants at 5:45 at night or you'd miss out on them. Buffet was large and institutional like. Noise: The evening entertainment practiced loudly during the afternoon, played very loudly until 10:45 each night. The drummer was dreadful and the singers not much better. This was right outside our room and remember the airconditioner was freezing cold or not at all so we had to open our window. Bed: I had to sleep in pants as the sheets made my legs itch. But overall the bed was ok. Drinks: Very watered down (which I didn't mind) Staff: Lovely people, most really hard working. They cleaned up after you very well (except for the beach area that got messy at times). We will never stay at a Riu again after this experience.
