With a stay at Richmond Hotel Matsumoto in Matsumoto, you'll be within a 15-minute walk of Matsumoto Castle and Matsumoto Timepiece Museum.
We managed to get an upgrade for a small cost and the staff and hotel were very accommodating. The hotel was very easy to find and well located, the amenities were great and checkout was very easy

In the heart of Nagano, Hotel JAL City Nagano is within a 5-minute drive of Zenko-ji Temple and Nagano Prefectural Shinano Art Museum.
Room was very small and the bed was placed at the corner that one side doesn’t have bedside table or any space, it was hard to get out of the bed. The breakfast was great and at the higher floor with a view. Wished it was open for dinner or drinks as well.

A stay at Hotel New Nagano NeXT places you in the heart of Nagano, within a 5-minute drive of Nagano Prefectural Shinano Art Museum and Zenko-ji Temple.
Amenity choices are wide. The frontdesk staff is super polite and efficient. The location and parking area is closed to main train station which is very convenient. The parking fee is ¥800 which is even lower than some smaller city. Good deal!
