As central as you can get, Mount Richmond Estate is a sick place to chill out after a full-on day of hitting the streets.

You could also think about snapping up a room in the Retiro Park Lodge, which is located 20 kilometres from central Rai Valley. The Okiwa Bay Lodge is one more option, just 25 kilometres away.

Don't blow through before you've checked out the Mabel Island and Picton Harbour in Te Mahia. If you'd like to spend a night or two in Te Mahia, consider the rates at the Raetihi Lodge and Lochmara Lodge. Or, you could stay in Ngakuta Bay, 30 kilometres to the east of Rai Valley, where you'll find the Escape To Picton and Asure Jasmine Court Motel. The Picton War Memorial and the Picton Museum are among the more popular points of interest to see when visiting Ngakuta Bay.

Nelson is 30 kilometres away from Rai Valley and has a population of 59,000. When you're here, you'd be crazy if you didn't visit the Waahi Taakaro Golf Club, Miyazu Japanese Gardens and Miyazu Gardens. Founders Heritage Park and the Founders Park are a few more which are sure to offer up some photo ops. There are a number of great hotels where you can snap up a room for a night or two in Nelson.
