I enjoyed my stay at Grand Bávaro Princess and would highly recommend to those looking for a great vacation with and all around atmosphere fit for the young to the older generations! My only gripe was the gift shop cashiers did not know how to count their own pesos nor USD dollar correctly to give to correct change back and the lady working the money exchange booth thought she would try to charge me over $150 USD to exchange $283 in pesos back to USD, and tried to go back in forth with me about until the transportation representative came and offered to exchange me out of his company money USD for a charge of $35. And couldn’t have expressed my appreciation to him enough, I was so thankful! So 9 out 10 due to the money scam game done to good tipping American travelers everywhere I went rather I was on the resort and especially on my excursions off the resort so just advise people to beware!

The resort was nice enough, but overall, it was not a satisfactory experience.The staff was poorly trained and had poor English communication skills. Basically, they did not really understand English well enough to deal with an English-speaking customer. The room had mosquitoes and it took the staff two days to deal with the problem. The plumbing in the tub was broken. My daughter got sick from the Japanese restaurant food the first night. We had to order in while she recovered. Room service managed to get a simple order very wrong. I asked for a burger, and I got fried chicken. After many phone calls with guest services, they delivered a bun with shredded white meat. The third time, we got a very tough burger and unsalted fries. The food at the buffet was so-so. Mostly underseasoned. There was an unscrupulous vendor at the resort who overcharged us for a wood carving. Management should be more careful of who they allow to sell in their premises. The bartender by the pool took a shot for every drink he served a customer. Very off-putting behaviour. The beach was full of seaweed, so we had to stick to swimming in the pools. Finally, the resort failed to give me the wake-up call I requested on the day of my departure. It's really too bad because the property was nice. They fell short in the communication and service and finer details of hospitality.

Barely anyone spoke English, they only served cheap alcohol, no servers for any guests at the pool, limited variety of food and entertainment, beds were folding in and uncomfortable, AC not working, moved our room three times. Didn’t offer accommodations for that. Service was rude at times. No one was helpful or going above and beyond. They didn’t like that we didn’t speak Spanish.

The property itself is pretty. The beach was unfortunately full of gulf weed (we picked a bad time to go). But while laying out at the beach there is no cocktail service. You have to get up each time and walk to the pool bar to get your own drinks/snacks. Not sure if this is normal because other resorts we have been to have a waiter for drinks at the beach so this was disappointing. There was also barely any cleaning at the pool and beach. There was a lot of dirty drink cups and baskets of food at the pool and beach beds. Most of the staff was extremely rude this includes servers, bartenders at the pool bars, and staff at the food trucks. They make you feel unwelcome and make it obvious they are there just for a paycheck. We only had one helpful server, Darlin, and we kept going to the areas where he was working because everyone else was so rude. And there was one great friendly bartender, Osvaldo, he was at the small pool bar so we only saw him one day because we spent most of our days out at the main big pool and beach.

Positives: The grounds are delightful and are very well-kept! The staff are all lovely; all very polite and couldn’t do enough for you. The ‘Relaxed Pool’ was a great area, and the cocktails from pool bar were great; as were the bartenders! The ‘Lobby Bar’ was also great; the bartenders couldn’t do enough for you! Negatives: Upon arrival, there was a man in my room making a call on his mobile phone. The bellman spoke to him in Spanish and he left; the bellman had no English and therefore I was unsure whether the man could re-gain access etc. so I had no choice but to out my suitcase up against the door each night. Security is clearly an issue! The room was dirty on arrival; the floor hadn’t been cleaned (I was certain of this following running my finger along it). There was little to no hot water. There is no point in having a bath in the bathrooms as you couldn’t take a bath if you wanted one; the water temperature was tepid, at best (often, cold). The food was mediocre. Food from buffet was of poor quality and there was an overriding taste of disinfectant; from whence I have no idea. The A La Carte restaurants were variable. The fish restaurant was great, the Indian was poor. The steak house was also poor (don’t get your hopes up), but the Pizzeria was really great! The internet was poor; I paid for the ‘premium WiFi’ and it was intermittent at best, and often coverage was just not there.

Platinum Couples trip

First off, don't get platinum service there's NO point. Service was horrible. Absolutely the worst workers ever. Room service was always late and forgot stuff on the order. The servers at the resturaunts also always got your order wrong even if you point to the exact item you want. If you tip they are kinder but you must tip before you even sit down, but even then they mess up. The grounds were pretty and well kept. The room was always clean and big. Food was okay. Location is good.

Aesthetically the room looked really nice but there was an issue with the pipes that cause there to be lots of gnats in the room every night even after the staff would come spray. Because of the issues the bathroom smelled really bad, the sink flooded and toilet had a hard time flushing.

I booked my stay here & decided to upgrade to the platinum honeymoon suite. In the description, it states, a 1 lobster dinner per person. At the resort, they told me they no longer offer it. If this is the case they hold not have advertised it. They wanted to charge me $65 for lobster. Don’t waste your money and upgrade a platinum. The only difference is one restaurant & the quality of liquor. I ordered room service. It took 3 1/2 hours to actually receive it. I could’ve walked somewhere and gotten faster service.
