The hotel itself is really lovely - the décor, look and feel were all very pleasing, and our room (Room 5) was spacious and nicely done. Unfortunately, there were a few things that took away from the experience.
The main issue was that the room was far too warm, and we weren’t able to turn the temperature down. When we asked at reception, we were told the heating was central and couldn’t be adjusted, which made it quite uncomfortable to sleep.
Another problem was that our room is on the ground floor. We woke up early the first morning to the smell of food being cooked - not the most pleasant thing to wake up to. Our windows were closed, but as our bathroom window backs onto the hotel kitchen extractor fan (or possibly the kitchen window), the smell still came through quite strongly. This was only a problem on night 1, and we shared this with reception the next morning.
Finally, it would have been helpful to have somewhere to hang our towels - there were no hooks or proper rails, so we ended up hanging them over the radiator and a pole in the bathroom.
All in all, it’s a beautiful hotel with a lot of charm, but a few practical issues made the stay less comfortable than it could have been.
