This was my second 2 week stay at the Hotel Joke. What can I say, I love the neighborhood. Within a 5 minute walk you have a five Guys, a Starbucks, 4 or 5 boulangeries, the Moulin Rouge, a couple fantastic Chinese restaurants, a handful of typical French cafes, countless other restaurants that have pizza, pho soup, Italian food, Japanese food, a couple flower shops, a butcher, a seafood market, a couple produce markets. Not to mention you can catch multiple Metro lines and bus lines within that same five minute walk. The neighborhood has a little gritty side to it with a few massage parlors and adult shops, but it’s not overbearing. Safety has never been an issue. The staff at the hotel are friendly and helpful and their English is way better than my French. The breakfast is good with many choices including cold cuts, scrambled and hard boiled eggs, cheeses, pickles, toast, potatoes, sausage etc and it has slight variations each day. The free snacks come in handy sometimes and are pretty good quality. Potato chips, dried fruit, walnuts, candy etc that you can grab on the go or after a long afternoon of sight seeing. The rooms are relatively quiet and you don’t get much noise from the street. My only complaint on this subject is the noise from room doors. They are quite loud. But if the guests were a little more considerate and gently closed the door instead of just letting it slam, this wouldn’t be an issue. The entry to the hotel is locked 24/7 and you must ri
