There was so much confusion between Expedia and the hotel regarding my reservation. I was informed by the hotel that two reservations were made in my name. They checked me in through one reservation, but said I had to contact Expedia to cancel the second reservation. I contacted Expedia through the chat in the app. Expedia claimed there was only one reservation seen on their end and assured me I would not be charged/penalized for the second reservation. They were wrong. I ended up getting charged a no-show fee of $295+ for the second reservation by the hotel. Expedia then told me they could not issue a refund - it had to be the hotel! Ultimately, Expedia could not help me. They supposedly escalated the case which would have taken days. On the day of check out, I decided to explain the situation to a front desk attendant named Joanna (?), in hopes of resolving this right away. She identified the mistake and was able to refund the no-show fee. I appreciated her help and patience!! I'm still not certain who was responsible for the double-booking error. I am just happy to get a refund for a charge that was not my mistake, but with this experience, I have lost a little confidence in the reservation system and the communication between the hotel and Expedia.
Thank you to the hotel staff member who helped resolve my issue!
As far as the property, it was a great location. The hotel itself is relatively clean, despite the heavy traffic during the holidays.
