Holidays in Manase
Your last holiday feel like it was years ago? Don't stress — book a ticket to Manase and you'll be heading off in a jiffy!
From Manase, head approximately 80 kilometres southeast to get to the popular city of Apia.
Mother Nature's splendour is on display around Manase. Just 11 kilometres away, Peapea Cave is a superb place to begin. Afu Aau Falls sits 35 kilometres away and is another pleasing spot for a bit of downtime.
Go 3 kilometres to the east and you'll find Fagamalo. It's home to some awesome attractions, including Lava Church Ruins and Paia Dwarfs Cave.
About 75 kilometres to the southeast, Vaitele is a place with lots on offer. National Parliament, Papaseea Sliding Rocks and the Faleata Golf Course are close at hand. That said, Maketi Fou and Flea Market are also worthwhile.
To truly experience a destination is to try its food and drink, so prepare to nibble, gnaw, slurp and sip your way across Samoa. The only thing you need to bring with you is a strong appetite!
Are you fond of crayfish? How about taro? Whether you're keen on them or not, they are some ingredients you'll often find in the cooking here.
While in Manase, eat like the locals do. That means sitting down to a meal of taro root seasoned and baked in oven or oka l’a (marinated raw fish), a couple of the region's specialty dishes.
If you're all about dessert, you're not going to be disappointed. Make sure you try cooked green bananas in coconut cream, a delicious treat that's sure to hit your sweet spot.
Make an effort to connect with your hosts by taking the time to learn a couple of words in the local tongue. 'Ia manuia lou Aso Fanau' may be very useful. It's how you say 'happy birthday'. Perhaps you'll find 'Ete ta fia siva?' easier to get your head around? It means 'would you like to dance?'.
What better way to discover more about a place than by being there during a day of national celebration? There'll be plenty of festivities arranged for Independence Day Celebration on the 1st of June.
Before you say "Toe feiloa'i" to Manase, check to see if you have any remaining change that you can spend on last-minute mementos.
With a little planning, making your way to Faleolo International Airport (APW), the closest airport, shouldn't be too difficult. It's 60 kilometres southeast of the centre of Manase.

Savaii Lagoon Resort
Savaii Lagoon is a truly tropical island resort, it is picture perfect in an incredible setting. I travelled from Australia with my three tall teenage children, and the villa was ideal for us with two single beds and a queen. The space was generous, with air-con and a large ceiling fan so we all ...

Tailua Beach Fale
Titi was so friendly and welcoming. She made us the best food we ate in Samoa. Yes the accomodation and facilities were basic but hearing the waves lapping just a few meters from where we slept paradise. Beautiful area to swim and even had turtles pop up to say hi. Would go back for sure it really ...

Stevenson's at Manase
Large areas of the resort are run down and abandoned. The are holes in the deck around the pool. Wifi is only available at reception and is intermittent at best. For the price you will get better amenities staying in a Beach Fale instead. That said, the staff did everything they could to help us ...
