To get a true sense of the city (and avoid any FOMO), take a detour to Huli — a neighbourhood located 15 kilometres to the south. To get there, the closest airport is Xiamen International Airport. Once you've stretched a little, collected your bags and absorbed your new surroundings, head 2 kilometres to the south.

This city has no shortage of exciting things to do, and you'll uncover many of them near Huli. It's not easy to pick the leading attractions, but the Wanshi Botanical Garden and the Xiamen University are a couple you shouldn't miss out on.
