We chose Alagon Hotel and Spa based on its 9.0 “Exceptional” rating and convenient District 1 location. Unfortunately, our experience was frustrating and disappointing. At check-in, we were given a long list of rules, including a pricing chart for stains on linens and towels, with fines for everything from makeup smudges to minor marks. Even worse, a sign above the toilet instructed guests to dispose of toilet paper in an open trash bin—an unsanitary policy not disclosed before booking. The spa service was equally frustrating. We booked a session through Mr. Mathew Nguyen, who confirmed before we left for a tour. Upon arrival, we were told he had left, and Ms. Huang Vy denied any record of our booking. After back-and-forth with the spa manager, Mr. Trung Nguyen, we were finally accommodated—only to have our 90-minute session cut to 45 minutes with no explanation but still charged in full. Communication was terrible, with staff dismissing concerns and ignoring guest requests. The worst part came at checkout (4 a.m.), when staff inspected our room for stains and toilet paper compliance before letting us leave. We felt like they were holding us hostage. We were also charged for services not received, with staff refusing to adjust fees. Hidden charges, poor service, and unprofessional and rude staff make this hotel’s high rating misleading. Future travelers should beware.

The rooms were large with comfortable beds. While breakfast is included, they also gave us a free cocktail every day, one dinner for two and a foot massage in their spa. We loved the rooftop bar. The hotel is close to dozens of restaurants and you can walk to many attractions. Shopping is very close by as well. The staff are excellent and attentive to your needs throughout the property. I'd definitely stay here again.

Really enjoyed my stay here. The staff were great. This place is super nice. Roof top bar, swimming pool and javuzzi, madsage parlor on site and complimentary breakfast with discounts for services for massages. Centrally located to ben thanh market, biu steeet and ho ti ky night market. Easy for walking if you can manage in the heat.

The room was excellent, very clean and provided lots of extras ....umbrella, iron, hairdryer etc Lovely touch free cocktail and chips every evening, also complimentary meal in their restaurant and complimentary foot massage. Lovely hotel, the staffs were very polite and friendly and always ready to be requested at your service. There is a minor construction going on out front because the entire street are being redone with the pavement/sidewalk so it's a little dusty when you stepped outside of the front entrance but that is the governments doing so soon enough everything will be nice and clean again. Good noodle restaurant near by 1 min walk and circle K 7/11 and a few spa/massage as well as bars. Late night street food restaurant and an Indian spot as well. The AC was icy cold which is perfect for me in the heat of Saigon, I was working from the hotel and internet connection was ok, it isnt the fastest but 1080p HD quality on Youtube is doable. 4K might be slower. Pretty Indochine/french influenced designs through out the property. I enjoyed my stays

I would suggest avoiding this hotel if you are going to be staying in Ho Chi Minh City. Believe the other negative reviews. We stayed at 3 other hotels in vietnam at similar price points to this one, which were all of substantially better quality. We checked in to a "Deluxe" window room, but have to say we were extremely disappointed as the room was pretty bleak and not really representative of the pictures on the hotel expedia page. There are other reviews that describe the high level of noise in the room and they should be believed. We tried to sleep but there was a loud humming noise that resembled being on an airplane. When we told this to the front desk they were very dismissive and not apologetic at all, saying that it was not their fault. We asked to move rooms and they moved us to a windowless room with a small and very uncomfortable double bed. This room was even more unpleasant and just as noisy as the first room. There was an extremely loud whistling noise that would happen about every 20 - 30 minutes. In the secpnd room there was also an extractor fan that connected into the hallway so we could hear all of other guests coming and going in the hallway. Lastly, we also had to pay a 1 million VND cash deposit for "incidentals", even though both rooms that we stayed in had a non-working and unstocked fridge. We found it really strange to not have the option to use a credit card for this.
