We recently spent 4 days at Shakespeare on our honeymoon. My wife and I were overwhelmed by the effort made by Olivia and all her staff to make sure we had the best stay possible. Nothing was too much and the personalised service and advice was excellent. One day we will hopefully return to Japan, ...

We were impressed by the welcoming and genuinely friendly front desk staff, even at this low point in the season before the skiing gets going in a few weeks.

Eat, sleep, travel, repeat. If that sounds like the perfect life plan, make Nagano your next epic holiday! And when it comes to areas to stay in this lively city, have a think about Hakuba, 20 kilometres from the action.
If you're keen to get your bearings here fast, there's no better way than to get out and explore! Consider making the Nagano Prefectural Shinano Art Museum, a popular Nagano attraction, one of the first things you do.
Check out the mountain scenery as you shred the trails at Hakuba Iwatake Ski Resort. If you're hoping to stay nearby, two sweet options are the Gakuto Villas and Hakuba Tokyu Hotel. To be sure your visit runs without a hitch, visit Happo Information Center to read the maps. The Hotel Keyaki no Ki and Hakuba Berg-land are among the most sought-after hotels to check out close to here.
Everybody has heard accommodation horror stories about the most uncomfortable mattress ever and infestations of creepy-crawlies. But believe us, cheap doesn't have to mean nasty. There are loads of budget accommodations available here, and our favourites are the K's House Hakuba Alps and Pension Nostalgia.
You certainly don't need soft, fluffy bathrobes, a delicious room service menu and plush cotton sheets all the time (that said, it can be nice sometimes, right?). The more upmarket options here are the Hotel La Neige Higashi-kan and Hotel Sierra Resort Hakuba.
Keen to check out the café culture? Update your travel blog, sip on a hot coffee and spoil yourself with some sweet treats at BC Coffee House. Trust us, you'll need something substantial to chow down on after all that sightseeing. Luckily, Hanaya has a delicious menu which will really put a lining on your tum! If you've been roped into making a night of it, Lucky petes cafe and bar is a stone's throw away as well. (Another couple of beers can't hurt, can it?)
Not much is better than stepping off a plane into a new, wild and unfamiliar destination. Hotels, flights, rental cars, experiences — whatever you need, we can make it happen!
