The Dinner at Hotel was atrocious, the choice of drinks useless and overall very poor value at £31.99 for a very poor curry and a glass of wine !! Breakfast was also substandard, the room was so cold by the time I’d returned to my table the food on my plate was stone cold. Will not be staying there again !

First visit and arrived quite late. Unfortunately due to the building works going on had a round trip walk through the rain and carpark to get to the swimming pool, found out after there was a shorter route but was sent the long way. Told I pretty much had to book a dinner time for one that wasn’t very convenient and arrived at a virtually empty restaurant. Hotel room lovely and a good quiet location. Would stay again after renovating works is finished.

The breakfast was barely warm on both days! The evening meal was expensive for what it actually was. The fish and chips were overcooked and just frozen battered fish, you know the type, the mushy sort of processed fish. The curry was really nice but little chicken and the burger looked impressive but was a standard burger, nothing special. The staff were very busy because there wasn’t enough of them and people kept having to go to the bar to get some attention and then told someone would come over. The room was extremely hot and luckily there was a fan! The bed was very comfortable, the room nice and clean. There wasn’t enough tea and coffee for the two of us and we had to ask at reception but they weren’t able to replenish the decaffeinated coffee as they’d run out. At breakfast I asked for butter but they’d run out of the little ones and was given margarine on a plate from the kitchen instead! Would we stay here again, no I’m afraid not.

The good parts: The hotel is in beautiful grounds, the staff were also lovely! Easy commute from the M5. The Deluxe room was a decent size and the bed was comfy. The spa has a really lovely outlook, was never crowded and the facilities are fab. Big pool which was great for a decent swim, two hot tubs and sauna & steam rooms. Would absolutely come back to the spa. The 11am checkout was very welcome so we could take our time in the morning :) The bad parts: We essentially paid £170 to not sleep most of the night. It’s an old building and the soundproofing is non existant and the walls may as well be made of paper. Therefore we’ve sadly come away exhausted so it was all kind of pointless! The hotel needs a huge revamp to modernise it. Very old decor and looking so tired in places. It could be fantastic with work. The restaurant was overpriced, had no atmosphere and just felt very flat. Also a balcony over the car park is kind of laughable!

Room very clean and comfy! Nice staff! The only thing stopping the stay being a 5 star is that one of the 2 complimentary bottles of water was open and half drank. I also paid the same price for the same type of room as my work colleague he he got a room triple the size of my with a bedroom and a separate living room with two tvs. I was only staying there for one night so I wouldn’t have made use of the extra space but if my stay was longer I would have had to mention it. Overall great stay and got me into the Christmas spirit!
