The country's capital, Washington, sits approximately 2,400 kilometres to the east of Drake.

Escape on an adventure to some surrounding natural sights. 20 kilometres out of Drake, Rotary Park is waiting to be experienced. The Environmental Learning Center, 30 kilometres away, is another superb spot to unwind in the outdoors.

Located 30 kilometres away, Budweiser Events Center is a favourite for keen indoor football fans. Pack a few pieces of navy blue, carolina blue and white, and time your stay with a game featuring the home team, the Colorado Ice. You can also cheer on the second home team, the Colorado Eagles.

Whether you want to smooth your turns or just get back to base in one piece, Colorado has the slopes you're after. Spend your days at either Winter Park Ski Resort or Loveland Ski Area.

You'll find even more just around the corner. Estes Park, 25 kilometres to the west, is popular for Beaver Meadows Visitor Center and the Historic Fall River Hydroplant. Though, if Planet Bluegrass and Ciatano Winery are more your thing, go 25 kilometres south from Drake to Lyons.

Whether it's for shopping or to see the sights, visitors often make the trip out to Longmont, 40 kilometres to the southeast. The Ute Creek Golf Course, the Longmont Museum and the Pacific Events Center are all close at hand. That said, you shouldn't miss out on the Dougherty Museum and The Colorado Actors Theatre either.
