Go behind the scenes and explore the side streets and alleys to see a different side of the city—and of course, take a day trip to the Taj Mahal.

Things to Do in Delhi

We know the Taj Mahal is one reason you’re looking at Delhi holiday packages. It’s 200 km south of the city, in the town of Agra. On a holiday in Delhi, shopping is all about the bazaars. Whether you want luxury labels, handmade fabrics or tiny tchotchkes, there’s a market for that. Khan Market, southwest of downtown, is where you’ll find your favourite name brands, cosmetics and jewellery. A new pair of hundred-dollar kicks might be a bit much for your coworkers, though, so be sure to also check out Dilli Haat market, in the south part of the city. This is where you’ll find, well, everything else: crafts, tapestries, silky jamdani fabrics and more.

If you’ve got money to burn and a date to impress, pay a visit to upscale Chanakyapuri for a fancy dinner among diplomats and politicians. But if you’ve got no one to impress except your own stomach, head to the shops and stalls around Jama Masjid, north of the city centre. Start with a sampler of parathas, stuffed with everything from bananas to cashews, then chow down on tandoori murgh (yogurt-marinated chicken). Top it off with sweet fried jalebi and wash it all down with a mango juice.

Looking for a beverage with more of a kick? Delhi packages near the Hauz Khas neighbourhood will give you a home base in the city’s unofficial party centre. India’s capital is brimming over with electronic music, but you can also find live bands and trendy lounges. Chanakyapuri is another good bet for dancing your arse off. Tip: Start the next morning (or afternoon) with a bread omelette, which is exactly what it sounds like: green chili omelette between two slices of bread. Your day is saved.
