If I had read an honest review we definitely would not have stayed here. We were tempted to try and find alternative accommodation when we arrived. There was a pong of old drains in the room, everywhere needed updating but the worse part was there was a towel sanitizer machine in the room, a cd player, box of tissues and a super king bed! We felt that it was rented by the hour. The bedding was clean but was no longer white. The room was clean but there were signs everywhere about no smoking, damage to property etc and cctv in the hallway and a shared use kitchen. For the price we could have stayed at a basic hotel. We feel bad about leaving a negative review as the staff were very polite and friendly but it felt like staying in a hostel at best.

Great value for money stay

Lovely comfortable stay with excellent facilities inc full use of a kitchen. Very friendly and accommodating host. Great location near park/ river/ castle. Parking busy but not difficult. Will return if in area.

Advertised as having free parking but this is on street, not private and as I was visiting for a big event then no on street parking was available and I had to park 15 minutes walk away. I paid a premium for this hotel because it mentioned parking which then didn't exist so was disappointing.

189 Cathedral Rd

Nice welcome on arrival. Room clean and bedding nice and fresh. Room (1) at the back of the property so no noise from the road. Shower was a bit of a challenge - 3 different shower heads but I worked it out eventually (my age a factor lol). Only here for two nights but would definitely come back. Ideal for a good night's sleep. Pretty central to town so win win.

Economy accomodation, great host communication

We had a three night stay. Really good communication from the host. The bed linen (although not matching), and towels, were clean and fresh. The heating and ventilation of the room was great. The furnishings and flooring were 'tired' and the mattress rather soft, dipping to the middle. This was a place for us to sleep and shower (shampoo/ conditioner supplied but no shower gel in the bathroom) It represented good value for our minimal needs. I would describe it as 'Eonomy accomodation not 'Luxury' as advertised which is reflected in the nightly charge.

A great place to stay

Excellent, room was very clean and comfortable. The right size for 1 person. Shower was good and the towels smelled gorgeous. One of those great finds that you really want to say how good it is, but fear that selfishly if it becomes popular, you'll struggle to get a room if you need one!!

Clean, safe and in a lovely area of Cardiff

I was in Cardiff for a training weekend so for me I wanted somewhere clean, near to Bute Park and most importantly safe as I was travelling alone. This is exactly what I got. The Room: The BEST shower in the world and nice shampoo aswell, a really comfortable bed for the night and as daft as it sounds- perfectly placed TV. Found the touch turn on lamp by the bed useful, not messing about trying to find a switch at 2am. Kettle and hairdryer in my room were great, and I loved the welcome chocolates Essam delivered to my room 😁 An added treat! The host and hotel: When I initially booked I was aware that there would not be check in staff after 5:30 which made me a little nervous as a sole female traveller BUT all these small bits of worry were put at ease when I arrived. Essam was there to greet me and made me feel at ease straight away. He showed me around including a shared kitchen area which I wasn't aware of at the time of booking and advised of local shops I could visit for supplies, he also showed me safety features like the fire exit in my room, how to open and lock the door to my room and also the front door - little things but really helped me feel safe. Being able to lock my room from the inside with a key and also knowing the building required a key to get in made me feel really safe. I will definitely be staying again.

Cheap and cheerful

Smooth check in, plenty of free, on street parking. Close to town, easily walkable. Room was basic but clean and comfortable. No frills but what we needed, can’t fault it for the price.
