The nation's capital city, Washington, can be found roughly 480 kilometres to the east of Canada.

Travel a little out of Canada and you'll run into some picturesque natural sights. Just 35 kilometres away, Breaks Interstate Park is a terrific spot to soak up some sunshine. Another recommendation is Chief Logan State Park, 45 kilometres away from Canada.

Be sure to go to other nearby sights, such as the Coal House and Moonshine Hill. You'll come across them 14 kilometres northeast in Williamson. Not ready to call it a day just yet? Eastern Kentucky Exposition Center and Dils Cemetery are in Pikeville, 20 kilometres to the southwest of Canada.

Prestonsburg, 40 kilometres to the west, is a great day trip. You can use it as a base when stopping by Jenny Wiley State Resort Park, the Middle Creek National Battlefield and Samuel May House. If you'd like more convincing, other nearby attractions include Archer Park and the Mountain Arts Center.
