Holidays in Ashmore

Your last getaway feel like it was centuries ago? Simple — book a ticket to Ashmore and you'll be off in a flash!

From Ashmore, travel around 65 kilometres northwest to find the well-known city of Bristol.

Think about taking a picnic hamper and a blanket so you can enjoy a relaxing lunch by the water at Chesil Beach or Ventnor Beach.

You won't need to travel for hours to enjoy some wonderful natural sights. Hop in the car and venture over to Wookey Hole, 50 kilometres away from Ashmore, for a laid-back day. Or perhaps Durdle Door is of more interest? It sits just 40 kilometres away.

Head 30 kilometres southeast to Fitness First Stadium to catch a gripping live game of soccer. Located in United Kingdom, this stadium is the home of the A.F.C. Bournemouth, so don your red and black and get ready to cheer!

Leave a cloud of white powder behind you as you tackle the slopes at Gloucester Ski and Snowboard Centre. Powder hounds will also want to load up the car and head to Warmwell Holiday Park Ski Slope.

Venture further afield and find out what's happening in Tollard Royal, 3 kilometres to the east. Plenty of visitors come here for the Gold Hill Museum and the Shaftesbury Abbey Museum and Garden. Alternatively, Fontmell Magna is 4 kilometres to the west of Ashmore. Visit this locality for easy access to Sturminster Newton Mill and the Shillingstone Railway Project.

Spend an afternoon walking around Wimborne Minster, Kingston Lacy House and the Priest's House Museum and Garden. These sights are all not far from the middle of Corfe Mullen, 20 kilometres away. If you're keen for more, the Tivoli Theatre and the White Mill should also be on your itinerary.

Whether you enjoy the stylishness of Michelin stars or gnawing on a snack from a street cart, tasting the local food and drink is perhaps the best thing about travel. So why not give your taste buds a treat by trying some of the region's mouthwatering offerings?

Fish and lamb are some typical ingredients found in many dishes here. If you don't love them already, you may by the end of your getaway!

There's always a local plate or two that you need to cross of the list, and during your stay in Ashmore, bangers and mash (sausages with mashed potatoes) is among them. Ploughman’s lunch (cheese, bread, pickles and cold cuts) is another local classic that's bound to make an impression.

You might be eating your way into a food coma, but spotted dick (sponge pudding of dried fruits with custard) is certainly worth it. This well-known dessert will put your taste buds into overdrive at the very sight of it.

If you truly want to see the big pitcher, grab the hopportunity to sip on a beer. Schooner rather than later! Dreadful beer puns aside, don't forget to sample Yorkshire Bitter, one of the top local brews.

If the evening calls for something stronger, order some Bombay Saphire Gin. On the rocks or in a cocktail — your barkeeper will know the nicest way to have it.

There's a wine barrel full of reasons why you should order Denbies Pinot Gris or Chapel Down Chardonnay. These delicious drops draw wine connoisseurs from across the country.

Time to pack your belongings and head home? Be sure to catch a final sunset in the fantastic Wiltshire region before you say your last goodbye.

Ready to fly home? Pack up your bags, set the alarm and plan a route to Bournemouth International Airport (BOH). It's about 30 kilometres to the southeast.

Pleasant hotel in convenient area
"Great two night stay at the Laguna. The hotel was clean and adequate for our requirements. About a 20 minute walk into the city centre/beach. Plenty of car parking spaces. Our only gripe was that the shower was difficult to regulate and alternated from hot to cold and cold to hot constantly."
