Step back into the 60's!
Original 60's architecture, 5 houses from the Semaphore beach (2 mins walk). and less than 3 minutes walk to Semaphore Rd which has more than 15 restaurants, 8 cafes, 2 supermarkets (one 7am to 9pm,) a cinema complex and more! Across the Port River is Port Adelaide with many historical sites, river cruises, Art Galleries and dolphin watching from canoes.
Five kms north of Semaphore is the North Haven Yacht Club and on Sundays the fruit and vegetable market is open from 7am to 12 midday. You also have fresh fish sold straight off the boats from the previous nights catch!
Additional rules and policies:
$170 for one bedroom, $40 for use of 2nd bedroom even if there are only two guests.
If you wish to have the pool area for a private function book it in advance for $120 for the day. if you wish to have the pool area just to yourself it is possoible however you need to negotiate this with your host. Monica.

An incredible property which is an absolute hidden gem. You walk in (to the whole property, including the second apartment) and are transported back to a to a bygone vintage era of the 1940’s/50’s & 60’s. The apartments are far from tacky or gimmicky - they are well put together with the incredible eye of the host who has an amazing collection of artwork (hers & others). What was particularly heartening was the seamless intertwining of vintage/ contemporary & aboriginal and Torres Strait islander works. The pictures do not give the appearance of the areas justice. They would be perfect for Burlesque, Rockabilly, pin up, glamazon, Photos. And around the pool area is an absolute hoot filled with everything to host your own Eurovision Gala. The property is in a fantastic location, quiet off the Main Street, but 300m from the IGA & 5 houses from the beach. You don’t need your car here.It has all the amenities needed, including for cooking etc. There are also an abundance of books, games etc & we enjoyed using the CD player. If you need anything the host is very helpful & responsive. We wanted to do some Art so - supplies were provided. Quite the extra. Everything is freshly laundered & clean. The property is purposely vintage / retro so don’t expect 2025 new build townhouse. It’s lived in, loved & well scrubbed! The host was helpful, generous & after we broke (very much our fault) one of the hosts boundaries - she addressed the issue with us with both professionalism grace.

Retro Getaway was fine but basic, somewhat grubby and poorly maintained. Host Monica was friendly. A tenant lived in part of the complex. He occupied the only working seating in the outside area for our entire 3 day stay. He was unfriendly, and acted like he was entitled, We left early because we felt very uncomfortable. OK to stay but don't expect to be able to use the advertised outside area.

time travel into an visual artist’s imaginary world

a most wondrous experience of vintage charm! Monica’s apartment is peppered with drop dead gorgeous time pieces from the 50ies to the 70ies that altogether make this place a real gem. If you like colour, charm, charisma and a hint of kitsch, if you love eclectic furniture and value comfort, cosiness and a superb beachside location, Monica’s place is for you. If you prefer sleek minimalist white new apartment uniformity, not so much. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, cooked up a storm in the kitchen, had many a vinos by the pool, borrowed a bicycle and even received fresh flowers and lemons off the tree. Loved every minute. Thank you Monica - a place to make memories. Can’t wait to come back.

Just 2 streets from the beach, quiet street, peaceful atmosphere. Walking distance to food & other shops. Just PERFECT for our Easter break. Highly recommend our hostess who made sure nothing was amiss... including the bath lotion! We'll be back!

Bliss in Semaphore

Staying in Semaphore is always such a pleasant trip back in time; so much evidence of its glorious past remains on show. This house is an ideal base for a nostalgic seaside Semaphore experience in terms of both location and decor. Only around the corner from both the beach and the delights of Semaphore Rd, this home is ideally situated. And the quirky retro decor throughout the property was so much fun to discover. Monica was an outstanding host. She couldn't have done more or gone out of her way more to look after and accommodate us. Nothing was too much trouble and we are very grateful. The outside/pool area was such a great space for relaxing and entertaining. Highly recommended. We can't wait to come back!

Perfect getaway - brilliant location

We loved our time at the "Sea Retro Getaway" It was exactly what we needed. A place to just chill out and slow down. Everything we needed was only just a short walk away. The pool area was perfect to relax and put your feet up. Monica was only to pleased to help with what ever questions we had. I would highly recommend this home to anyone wanting to stay in the area.

Little gem!

Good location Comfortable bed Not suitable for dogs as there is no back yard. No vacuum cleaner, broom, dust pan, fry pan, tongs, hair dryer… Gas heater not working. Box air cond/ heater above front door too high to reach without standing on stool. One bin liner for 12 night stay. No info on where bins were or collection day. Four attempts of communication with landlord unanswered. Retro theme is interesting but poorly executed. No smoke alarm or fire extinguisher. Dodgy renovations including plugs and wiring. Can not recommend for dogs

The Sixties Retreat

Stepped back into the 1960s in this lovely setting, only 2 streets from Semaphore Beach in a quiet location. Neat, clean, with lovely touches like fresh toothbrushes and REAL milk in the fridge. Absolutely loved it. We'll be back for sure. Monica, our host, just wanted to please. Fabulous and caring. An easy lifestyle, and a great night's sleep.

Fantastic location

The property was so close to the beach, in a very quiet area. Also close to shopping strip, with cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance. Fenced backyard for dogs. Landlady was lovely.
