Been up 'til dawn way too often lately? Desperate for a break and a few quiet nights? Yonggi-ri might just be the answer. It's set among the coastal plains and forests of North Jeolla — nice and not too touristy. (We reckon you'll feel so relaxed, you'll be under the blankets by sunset!)

It's located 170 kilometres south of Seoul, the country's capital.

We all know that spending time outside in nature is good for both your mind and body. Keeping that in mind, why wouldn't you venture 40 kilometres out of Yonggi-ri to Gyeryongsan National Park? Moak Mountain, just 35 kilometres away, is one more recommended option.

Journey 20 kilometres south to Jeonju World Cup Stadium to attend an exciting live game of soccer. Located in Jeonju, the stadium is the home of the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, so wear some black, green and light green and get ready to cheer!

The Mireuksa Temple and Wanggungni Historic Site are not far from the centre of Iksan, 3 kilometres to the south. Eager for more? Nonsan, 20 kilometres to the northeast of Yonggi-ri, is home to the Baekje Military Museum and the Gwanchoksa Temple.

Jeonju sits 25 kilometres from Yonggi-ri and is an essential part of the region. Nearby attractions include the Gyeonggijeon, the Jeonju Historical Museum and the Jeonju National Museum. Still got some time to kill? The Pungnammun Gate and Jeondong Catholic Church are also within reach.

Getting out and exploring the local area doesn't get any better when you can pick from fun activities like tobogganing and mountain climbing.
