Extremely spacious room; very comfortable bed; great idea to offer £5 to spend in exchange for missing out on room cleaning. Although spa was good, it was crowded with swimming classes. The major drawback was the lack of hot water in the en-suite; even when running the tap for a long time, the water was barely warm.
Absolutely outstanding customer service. The restaurant is an absolute must! we decided dinner was the best we had ever enjoyed in the UK wonderful service and piping hot food served to our table, perfectly timed between the three courses and the flavours were divine.
The staff at breakfast worked absolute miracles with a huge choice of food and the buffet was constantly refilled WELL DONE!!
Room was lovely, very spacious but the pillows were lumpy. Thankfully I had ear plugs with me as the air con made a low level hum constantly, even if switched off, and I'm a very noise sensitive sleeper.
Stayed for a wedding. Very rude female in the main bar kept telling us we should use another bar (where there was no outside seating on a very hot day). To encourage us to move she closed the sun shades so that we were in full sun. She was rude to several of the wedding guests. Red carpet for ceremony needed a good hoover. Poor lighting at night outside the venue was unsafe. Food however was excellent and bar staff in the evening were great. My junior suite did not have a tea/coffee maker as described and there was no hairdryer.
Impressed with this hotel. Have so much going for it. Room was good staff were very attentive from reception to spa staff to cleaning
However seems a disconnect between spa and hotel receptions - tell you different things
Annoying that kids pool only till 10 am and then from 4pm
Have a games room for kids
Stayed in the contemporary suit.
Pros
Large well designed and fitted room
Good friendly staff, especially in the spa.
Room service prompt and tasty
Excellent breakfast choices
Cons
Lift not working (August25)
Room not ready on arrival well after stated check in time of 3pm
Water for the bath luke warm at best which given the large bath is a big feature of the room was very disappointing, shower not a problem at all.
Overall a good stay with only minor niggles
Always stay here when down in Hinckley. I have to say the 2 fire alarms were not expected, but the one at 3.20am was not great, no apology email, no staff down stairs in the morning to say sorry. Really poor. Was absolutely knackered the next day with then a trip to Manchester. Other than that, all good.
Check in was smooth with plenty of free parking and reception welcoming. We struggled to find our room due to the layout of the building and a sign that lead us in the wrong direction. We had a suite which was spacious and an amazing sized bathroom with shower however the finishing of the doors, tiling and other areas such as bare plumbing under the WC sink let it down for the overall wow factor it was supposed to have. Breakfast was great with a good selection of food and attentive staff. Overall, the hotel was clean, spacious, had great staff and we would visit again.
Nice place to be, the staff are friendly. The rooms are big, clean and tidy. The dining hall was well arranged but it would have been better if the dinner is also a buffet like breakfast.
We had a 2 night stay made week for a funeral. After the first night the room was not cleaned or bed made nor was fresh towels provided. Only the shortbread biscuits were replaced. Had to go to reception and ask someone to come and do the bed. That took 2 hours for them to come. Room was a bit tired lots of scratches in furniture etc.
Corridor full of trays with remains of meals etc
Was unable to get any spa treatments as fully booked.
Spa wasn't very relaxing on Thursday evening as it had lots of noisy screaming feral kids, some who were in the hot tub unaccompanied and clearly were under the 8 min age. Surprised a spa would allow kids. If this isn't a drowning waiting to happen then I don't know what is! Not the relaxing spa break I had hoped for. This was a budget spa.
