Everything went fine besides the check-in. When I went to check in, I encountered a young woman who first looked disinterested in checking me in. Then she was speaking to me in a very low tone. I had to ask her several times to repeat herself. Her behavior then demonstrated that she was bothered by my inquiries. Finally, when I received the information I needed from her, I informed her that I couldn't hear her, so I asked her to repeat herself several times. Again, she seemed uninterested in my assertions.
I then encountered a gentleman who was working as the valet. We went outside and I complained to him, I couldn't hear the person who checked me in. He asserted that he tries to mind his business, but also informed the customer service person that maybe you should speak louder on one occasion to assist her. He said he doesn't want any conflict, and it's not his business. He did his job well and gave me numerous unsolicited information concerning the valet process.
I don't want the customer service person to get in trouble, but perhaps her having some additional training should stress the importance of customer service. I understand that this generation has its challenges, but I truly don't know how they take a customer service job and not even "act" like they are welcoming or happy to serve. If the training doesn't work, maybe customer service isn't for her. At the least, please speak to her and stress the importance of customer service.
