You don't need to be stuck inside a car all day to see some nature around these parts. Just 30 kilometres out of Vogar, Reykjavik Pond is an excellent place to sit back and relax. More idyllic surrounds await at Gunnuhver Thermal Springs, 25 kilometres away.

Located 30 kilometres away, Laugardalsvollur is a favourite for soccer supporters. Pack some blue, red and white, and time your stay with a live game featuring the home team, the Iceland national football team. The best snow is always in the morning, so you'll want to set your alarm clock early the night before heading to Skalafell Ski Area.

If you're considering venturing further afield, go 6 kilometres west to Njardvik. This is where you'll come across the Viking World Museum and Duus Hus Cultural Centre. We also recommend trying out Keflavik, 8 kilometres to the west, for the Reykjanes Art Museum and the History Museum of Reykjanesbaer.

Spend a bit of time walking around Reykjadalur Valley, the LA Art Museum and Geothermal park. All of these attractions are not too far from the centre of Hveragerdi, 55 kilometres away. Got some more time to kill? Hveragerdi Church and the Listasafn Árnesinga should also be on your to-do list.
