It lies 3,700 kilometres west of United States of America's capital, Washington.
There's no need to travel for hours to discover some impressive natural sights. Hop in the car and venture over to Mount Adams, 25 kilometres away from Trout Lake, for a chilled-out day. Or maybe The Dalles Dam Visitor Center is more your cup of tea? You'll find it 50 kilometres away.
There's nothing like rising with the sun and carving through fresh, fluffy snow at Mount Hood Meadows. Once you've checked out all the trails there, grab your skis and continue onwards to Summit Ski Area.
Into stopping at Husum Falls and Wind River Cellars? They're close to the middle of White Salmon, 16 kilometres to the south. Alternatively, you could head to Husum. It's 17 kilometres to the south of Trout Lake and well-known for the Husum Hills Golf Course and White Salmon River.
