Very good

Breathtaking views, beautiful establishment, great location close to town, excellent staff and restaurant. It’s an experience like no other. Highly recommend.
Our room was not in a good condition, the best thing about it was the view. I understand they are renovating so obviously hadn’t got to room 104 yet.
There was a damp large stain above the tiny “en-suite” and a cheap shower curtain, we didn’t even use the shower it was so uninviting. The receptionist tried to charge us for the room even though we had already paid in full. Very old and unattractive furniture in the room.
We ate in the restaurant and had to send the wine back it was so bad. Service was slow and when I asked for a spoon the waitress took one off the next table and almost threw it down on the table.
The common areas are nice and great paintings everywhere but a very unwelcoming feel to this hotel and not worth the money.
We stayed at a cheaper hotel for the next two nights in St. Austell which had wonderful rooms, great food but more importantly very friendly welcoming staff.

The only issue is the size of the bathroom shower. Very smsll and tricky for people with mobility issues. Otherwise, amazing. Staff are awesome
Amazing hotel with spectacular views. Service was first class by staff who always had a smile. One of the owners, Ted Stourton always seemed to be around checking that everything was ok, even at dinner moving from table to table, engaging with guests. Food was superb although menu was small. Will be returning in the near future.
I booked a deluxe room with sea view for my partners 60th birthday. On arrival we were upgraded to a four poster suite. We couldn't fault our room, rol top bath/shower room, views or hotel. We had an amazing stay, staff were friendly & helpful & we also had a tour of the art studios by Ted. Will definitely be returning.
I liked the charm and size of the atrium. Bar very pleasant. Only one disappointing thing, the toilets in the room. Could be bigger as it is impossible to turn around once in it... Just like on yachts...

Not exactly dog friendly
Lucky enough to get a sunny weekend beginning of March.
Castle views and location are perfect. The areas you can see if you were to visit the hotel are well kept. All very fitting to the castle theme.
Great sunset views if you are sea facing the Tintagel ruins.
Massive let down by the pet friendly rooms having a poor bathroom set up. Plastic pods which you’d expect to find if you were in a campervan.
There is no chance of cleaning a muddy dog in these facilities. The shower is so small and comes with no hose. Also can’t keep anything in this bathroom as it just falls off the shelf when you are in there.
Also dogs not allowed in breakfast area so they have to stay in the room but my dog is anxious and can’t be left in the bedroom on her own so we had to eat on a tray in the main lounge area on a sofa.
The ladies serving dinner and breakfast are very friendly and welcoming and offered great advice.
Unfortunately i experienced an unfriendly staff member who laughed at my request to upgrade to a room with a proper bathroom. I was told all cheap pet friendly rooms come with same bathroom set up and the more expensive rooms have the proper bathroom.
Well I had paid for the four poster queen bed so not exactly the cheap option so this comment felt unnecessary and rude.
Despite the rude staff we managed to not let it ruin our weekend.

The room was mind blowing, very grand, warm and comfortable. Down side was the toilet, shower cupboard that was a poor retro fit in the corner. Although it was spotlessly clean it was just like a plastic cupboard, not in keeping with the rest of the room. very tacky and small.
We had to complain two nights about the noise from the room above. Sounded like a kids party or playground that continued after midnight when enough was enough. The night staff did stop it promptly.
We had dinner there one evening. it was very nice food and service.
A drink and snack in the bar after we checked in was bliss.
All the staff were friendly, helpful and kind.
We love it there it was our second stay there, the first was before lock down. The staff are wonderful who we saw, especially the bar staff. The only thing that could be better is the bathroom as it's very small.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
The rooms are clean but a bit dated. The bathrooms are like pods in the corner of the room. The rest of the areas are lovely.
Beautiful property and the price is reflective of location and views. Just a shame as rooms are very dated with our bathroom being very similar to what you get in university halls. There is no baby facilities and hotel is not very accessible for this reason such as having a spin door access at the front which is very small and can barely fit a person and car seat in. We would go back purely for the views and location, but hotel is in need of refurbishment and moderation that is in keeping with the venue.
Beautiful place and location, fabulous food and very friendly staff

A unique stay
An amazing location for an unusual stay. Be prepared for art, antlers and the odd knight in shining armour. The staff were very friendly and those views simply amazing.
