Holidays in Taesa-ri
Forgetting what your last sickie excuse was is a pretty clear sign that you need a break. So why not step off the beaten track to Taesa-ri and get lost in the impressive coastal plains and forests of South Gyeongsang? (The only thing you'll need to remember is how to chillax!)
It's situated 310 kilometres south of Seoul, the capital city of South Korea.
Are you in need of a little beach therapy? Feel the salty sea breeze on your face as you listen to the serene sounds of the ocean at Gujora Beach. It's the best kind of medicine around!
Go beyond Taesa-ri and you'll see some unique natural attractions. Just 35 kilometres away, Suncheonman Bay Ecological Park is a brilliant place to recharge your batteries. Also make time to see Yeongchwisan Mountain, 16 kilometres away from Taesa-ri.
Head 12 kilometres to the southeast and you'll reach Namhae. It's known for some fantastic sights, including Nabi Saengtae Park and the Boriam Temple.
Roughly 90 kilometres to the northwest, Damyang is a place that has something for everyone. Gwanbangjerim Forest Park, the Bamboo Museum and the Bamboo Garden are all nearby. Keep in mind, the Myeonangjeong Pavilion and Geumjeong Fwarang are also worthy.
Getting outdoors and exploring the wider region doesn't get much better when your options include adventurous activities like mountain climbing and hiking.
Following a busy travel itinerary can sometimes burn you out. Why not plan a trip into the great outdoors and enjoy a laid-back day of shore fishing or picnicking?
Why spend valuable time trying to plan your itinerary when all the hard work can be done by someone else? Guided nature walks and wildlife spotting tours take the headache out of sightseeing.
You're bound to come across heaps of interesting things squashed into the region's history museums.
Clear the cobwebs from your mind with the help of some lovely outdoor attractions. The surrounding area offers a nice assortment of open-air exhibits and street art.
Those who love history will be fascinated by the area's ruins, traditional villages and old towns. If this is you, do a bit of research and pick one to visit first.
Experience the area's spiritual dimension by taking a look around its temples and shrines. Take a moment for your own quiet reflection or simply observe the locals in prayer.
Whether you prefer chasing Michelin stars or wolfing down a snack from a street cart, sampling the local food and drink is maybe the best thing about travel. So why not treat your taste buds by tucking into some of the area's delectable offerings?
A traditional meal here tends to include beans and anchovies, two commonly used ingredients for which the area is famous for plating up.
There's no need to agonise over the restaurant menu while in Taesa-ri. Dive straight in and choose some of the regional specialties, such as jaecheopguk (clam soup) and bibimbap (sautéed vegetables on rice).
Still got a little room left after the main course? Then place an order for andong sikhye (rice dessert), an indulgent sweet treat.
Feeling a bit parched? Knock back a glass of Prime Max, a beer that needs to be on your bucket (or pint) list.
Want to jumpstart the party? A few rounds of cheongju (rice wine) will do the trick! Mixed, straight, in a cocktail — doesn't matter!
Planning to be here on the 15th of August? You're in luck. On this date each year, the whole country joins together to celebrate Liberation Day.
With some preparation, making your way to Gimhae Airport (PUS), the closest airport, shouldn't be too hard. It's 100 kilometres to the east of the centre of Taesa-ri.

La Terrace Resort
