We stayed here for one night and overall had a pleasant stay, but there were a few things that could be improved.
The property itself is gorgeous and the view is absolutely unmatched. The room and bed were clean and comfortable, and the setting makes it a cosy place to stay, especially in cooler or rainy weather.
Communication prior to arrival was lacking. I didn’t receive any check-in details beforehand and when I called, I was told they would text them through, but they never arrived. Check-in ended up being easy as the keys were simply left out for us, though this felt a little unusual.
There were also a few maintenance and housekeeping issues. The outdoor blinds on the balcony were quite mouldy and created an unpleasant smell outside. I understand Montville’s climate makes mould difficult to manage, but we had several sunny days beforehand so it felt like this could have been addressed before our stay.
The shower heads are very old and need replacing — many holes are blocked and water sprays in odd directions. The showers also had visible mould which was off-putting. The toilet and vanity were clean.
The TV remote batteries were dead (the restaurant kindly gave us replacements), but the TV itself is quite outdated and doesn’t support streaming services.
Adding curtains would also help, as the light through the blinds woke us around 6am.
With a bit more attention to maintenance and resetting the rooms, this could be a really lovely place to stay.
