Why don't you hit the road to Santa Clara? Located 30 kilometres south, from here you can take in iconic attractions such as the Santa Clara University and Winchester Mystery House.

There are some terrific sights located 30 kilometres away in San Jose. It's well worth taking some time to soak up the San Jose Museum of Art, the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum, the Children's Discovery Museum and everything else the area has on offer.

Sitting 75 kilometres to the south, Natural Bridges State Park is a wonderful place to spend a bit of time relaxing by the seaside. Main Beach also boasts some incredible views. You'll find this strip of coastline 70 kilometres to the south.

Venture beyond Sunol and you'll come across some picturesque natural sights. Just 40 kilometres away, Lake Merritt is an excellent spot to get out into the fresh air. We also suggest Castle Rock State Park, 45 kilometres away from Sunol.

What could be more fun than cheering yourself hoarse at a soccer game? See the San Jose Earthquakes bid for glory at Palo Alto Stadium, located in Stanford, 30 kilometres away. Alternatively, get swept up in the exciting atmosphere of a live home game featuring the Stanford University.

There's even more just around the corner. Pleasanton, 8 kilometres to the north, is known for Boomers and the Alameda County Fairgrounds. Alternatively, if Newpark Mall and Mission San Jose are more appealing, head 11 kilometres west from Sunol to Fremont.

Spend a morning or afternoon walking around the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, the Ruby Hill Winery and the Steven Kent Winery. All of these attractions are not too far from the centre of Livermore, 14 kilometres to the northeast. Located 25 kilometres to the south is Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC), the closest terminal. Make sure you give yourself ample time to find it.
