Holidays in Sayo

Life in the big city driving you nuts? Reckon a change of scenery would sort you out? Then whisk yourself off to Sayo and mellow out among the stunning coastal plains and mountains of Hyogo.

The well-known city of Okayama is situated within reach of Sayo. You'll find this major centre 55 kilometres to the southwest.

Take the little ones along to Nishi-Harima Astronomical Observatory for a great day of fun and excitement.

Goshiki Beach Park and Kashima Beach are perfect options if you want to go somewhere to unwind by the ocean.

The calming sounds of the natural world are waiting for you at Ayabeyama Bairin Garden. It lies just 30 kilometres away, so you won't need to be stuck inside your car all day. The Forest Nature Observation, 30 kilometres away, is another recommended option.

The snow-covered slopes of Shingo Daiichi Ski Resort and Wakasu Kogen Oya Ski Area lure plenty of powder fiends. Strap on your skis and enjoy the fresh trails.

Seize the opportunity to head to other close-by sights, such as the Mimasaka City Museum of History and Folklore and Okayama Farmers Market North Village. You'll come across them 13 kilometres west in Mimasaka. Not ready to give back the rental car just yet? Takamine Shrine and the Myofukuji Temple are in Kamigori, 15 kilometres to the south of Sayo.

Want to go and check out Akooishi Shrine, the Ako City Museum of History and Ako Castle Ruins? Then head over to Ako, 25 kilometres away. The Kagakuji Temple and Breathing Well are also close at hand and should be on your travel plan.

Heading out and seeing the local area doesn't get any better when your choices include stimulating activities like mountain climbing and hiking.

A bright and sunny day is an excellent opportunity to venture into the great outdoors and while away a few hours cycling. If the nice weather keeps up, also throw in some bird watching.
