Best choice for Sault Ste. Marie!!

I'm a regular customer here. I come to Sault Ste. Marie every month and stay for several days, so hotel costs matter. This place has become my absolute go-to. The owners do a great job taking care of any problems that come up right away, the housekeeping staff keep the rooms very clean, they are accommodating when I've needed late checkouts, etc, and are just all-around great hosts. The building is a bit dated, but they have done a fantastic job updating what they have to make it feel more modern and it definitely feels clean. (Yes, I can say I feel comfortable walking around without socks and shoes, so I'd say that's a good standard.) The location is right across from the Sault Locks too, so with the security patroling over there the motel definitely feels safe & is well lit. (Plus the bonus of all the access to the downtown shops & restaurants!) I highly recommend this place & the price can't be beat!

So so.

Heater was noisy and there were air gaps around the ac unit letting cold air in. There was also a broken faucet handle in the bathroom. I have stayed there in the past and all was good, this time not so much.

It was very convenient that you could pull up and park right in front of your door but you could get blocked in easily. The water pressure and temperature were very awesome. The staff was great. The ice machine was down so they still provided us with ice from elsewhere. The most inconvenient thing was having to enter the key code every time you entered or exited the property.

We had a great stay at the Lockview. The owners/staff were kind and accommodating, bringing us extra blankets when we anticipated we might need them. We had everything we needed. The walls are pretty thin (standard in older U.P. motels), but all neighbors were quiet and considerate. In the winter, be sure to park a bit away from the front of the building as snow might fall from the roof (also standard U.P. wisdom!). Lots of places to eat and shops just a few steps away.

I really enjoyed the stay here. It's an older property, and I was able to stay in one of the connected cabins. Parking was parallel to the door, so close parking was like... 5 feet away from my driver's side door 😄 The cabin was nice and clean, smelled clean, and the furnishings were nice. No caroet, which I prefer- vinyl plank. I enjoyed the round coffee table and the barrel chairs. Made it nice to get some work done not having to sit on a bed, at a desk, or in a wingback with no matching table. Water was hot, TV was great, and the only hiccup was a bad TV HDMI cable which maintenance fixed with a new one in under 15 minutes. Really happy with my stay here, would definitely stay again!
