Holidays in Saronikos

Fernweh, FOMO, wanderlust. Whatever you want to call it, there's only one way to solve it — head to Saronikos. No matter what sort of incredible adventures you're looking for, this Athens 'hood has lots going for it. The capital of Greece is home to around 650,000 people. Don't be shy to get out and make friends with a few of them! To reach Saronikos from Eleftherios Venizelos Airport, find a taxi, dump your bags in the boot and travel 18 kilometres south. If you're arriving from the centre, you'll need to venture 30 kilometres southeast.

If you meander around Saronikos long enough, you'll most probably come across one of the surrounding neighbourhoods. Make sure you take the time to explore Lagonissi, Kalyvria Paralias and Anavyssos.

One of the first recommendations of your guidebook will no doubt be the Parthenon. So what are you hanging around for? This iconic attraction is situated just 0.8 kilometres from the centre of the city.

You'll never be without things to do in the heart of Athens. The Temple of Olympian Zeus and the Benaki Museum will enthrall you for hours. To get an even better feel for your surrounds, also stop by the National Archaeological Museum of Athens and Mount Lycabettus.
