It's situated 45 kilometres to the southwest of the nation's capital, Oslo.

Be sure to pack a picnic for lunch by the water at Whale Beach or Hvervenbukta Beach.

Break out on a trip to some nearby natural sights. 40 kilometres out of Sande, Langoyene is just waiting to be explored. Hovedoya, 45 kilometres away, is another sensational spot to kick back and unwind.

Located 50 kilometres away, Ullevaal Stadium is a favourite for soccer followers. Pack some red and blue, and time your stay with a game featuring the home team, the Norway National Team. You can also throw your support behind the second home team, the Valerenga Football.

Hang your feet from the chairlift at Vikersundbakken Ski Flying Hill as you consider your next run. Along with Drammen Ski Centre, this icy wonderland boasts some of the best skiing in the region.

The Drammens Museum, Drammen Water Park and Union Scene are all quite close to Drammen, 16 kilometres to the north. Need more excuses to call in? The Drammens Theatre and Bragernes Church aren't far away either.
