Parking was very limited and open to public access. No apparent cctv coverage either. Due to a private function we could not use the hotel restaurant - it would have been helpful to have been advised of this beforehand as we struggled to find anywhere to eat. Our room was clean but very dated and shabby. Beds were not that comfortable and there were no plug sockets by the beds to charge phones etc. The bathroom - like the bedroom - was very dated and in need of a refit. Breakfast the next morning was the worst part of our stay. Overcooked, rock hard bacon, undercooked sausages and to top it all, mouldy bread! Overall it was very disappointing. We have stayed at the hotel before and enjoyed it a lot. The place needs some investment and refurbishment.

Did not get room i paid for which was booked through Expedia. The photos of the room booked were not the room which we where allocated. I went to reception to say we had wrong room, only to be told that we had to take that up with Expedia she said we were down as a double room and that the balcony rooms were classed as superior. I showed her my booking and said Expedia class it as a standard feature and showed her the photos that went with the booking, only for her to say that they were not responsible for photos. The room in which we stayed was very dated especially the bathroom. There was no lid on the toilet seat, there was rust on chrome, crack in a couple of tiles and a very overall look of tiredness. The bed however, was compfy and the sheets and towels very clean. I think we had expected one type of room onlt to recieve a not so good one. The receptionist was less than helpful. We were very disappointed. I am still waiting to hear back through Expedia

The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpfull especially the ladies serving in the restaurant at breakfast time. The only minus point is the poor state of the fittings in the bathroom, both the toilet and the bath are in need of urgent replacement.

Awful food and service.

The food was awful, cooked on the outside, raw in the middle. Complained to the manager and she walked off whilst mumbling. Glad to say I hear that manager is leaving this week.

Stayed here about a month ago - it is an OK place to stay - you know what to expect from GK. Friendly efficient service - comfortable with no real issues. Good breakfast - evening food was wholesome and typical of all GK menus. Have stayed twice before and would stay again - I have found it reliable and so one thing less to worry about when planning a trip away.

Ok hotel . Bar and food was fine. Rooms could do with an update and a re- decoration as they are a bit tired. But they were clean. Room was boiling as it was a warm weekend. No aircon, and with the window open street was quite noisy.

Nice hotel

The hotel was ok for a two night stay however at night it was very noisy and hard to sleep. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was a good size but the bathroom looked tired but clean. For the price we paid you couldn’t grumble too much. If I was to go again I would definitely not ask for room 15 only because of the noise. The breakfast was very good with lots of choice. They accommodated me as I have celiac disease. We came to see the Dads Army museum and everything was walking distance.

The area was lovely, we walked around and explored the park and streets alike. We hadn’t realised the dads army connection, which was a lovely discovery. Unfortunately at night we were disturbed by loud noises from people nearby the property and obviously outside of your control.

An elderly hotel, quaint but comfortable. Superb bed, so slept well. Breakfast super. However, I need a ‘walker’ due to a bad back and had no warning that there is NO lift - bedrooms are on upper floors so very difficult. Also there has been confusion with payment. I paid Expedia at time of booking and paid the Bell a different amount when departing. Checked with The Bell upon arrival at home and was told that my ‘payment to the Bell’ was for invoice only???
