Holiday In Sacramento

Grab your metal detector and gold panning kit, you’re headed for Sacramento!

Just kidding, the days of sifting for metallic rocks with dollar signs in your eyes are over. But the capital of California is still shelling out currency in the way of art, culture and good grub. As long as you promise not to stage a coup, you can even get up close and personal with the gears of political progress during a tour of the state capitol building.

A holiday in Sacramento means sitting under the California sun, but when autumn rolls around, you can bet on burgundy leaves and the need for a jumper. The perfect excuse for a hot toddy, if you ask us. With so much to do in NorCal, we recommend snagging one of lastminute.com.au’s Sacramento car hire deals—road tripping a couple hours south to San Francisco is better with your own radio cranked up (a bus driver might not take too kindly to your enthusiastic karaoke).

Things to Do in Sacramento

Sacramento holidays: sure, you can learn all about the history of California at the state capitol building, but attractions extend far beyond Capitol Park. You can lose hours in the Crocker Art Museum, and nearby wineries tempt you to sip on a flight of their finest reds and whites. After all, you might need the liquid courage to embark on an underground tour of the city. That’s right, you can go subterranean and investigate the remnants of Sacramento that existed before the city was “jacked up” to avoid flooding.

In the summertime, you can scream your way down a water slide at Raging Waters and other local water parks. Who says you’re only a kid once? If you elbow a young ’un out of the way to get in the wave pool, we’ll look the other way. In the wintertime, strap on your skates and channel your inner ice skating Olympian. The Westfield Downtown Plaza Ice Rink is begging for you to show off your best double Salchow.

Shopping, Dining & Nightlife

There are two types of shopping to indulge in on your Sacramento holiday: casual boutique purchases for your mum and serious splurges (we’re talking designer merch). Old Town Sacramento and Antique Plaza are good places to spend if you’re after small shops. When you really want to put a dent in your credit card limit, head to the Folsom Premium Outlets or Arden Fair.

Sacramento likes to say it’s the “Farm-to-Fork Capital” of the world. And who are we to argue? You can’t throw a stone in the city without hitting an eatery working with fresh local ingredients. Real talk, don’t throw stones, but you know what we mean. Fine dining, vegetarian fare and greasy pizza—if you want it, SacTown has it.

Downtown Sacramento and the surrounding blocks are dotted with all types of nightlife. Want to set up shop at a swanky lounge? No problem. Interested in a stogie and outdoor patio? Well, there’s a late-night spot for that, too. Thanks to the cash you saved booking one of our top Sacramento packages, the next round is on you.

While the property was clean & close to restaurants nearby, the property did not place the correct number of towels, etc in the room. Also, it lacked a mirror in the room. It was difficult for 3 women to share the small bathroom mirror for the 3 of us. This was inconvenient.
