The whole place was wonderful, but the staff was even better!

We loved our stay at the Howler house! The covered patio was great to sit and listen to the wild life, and keep the bugs off. Got to see the monkeys on the deck, lots of birds, and a few lizards. Hope to be back one day!

We had the best time here. The hosts, Shanna and Kenny were great, super responsive and very helpful with planning things to do. Ernesto, one of the drivers was also fantastic and super helpful. The locals and neighbors around the house were very friendly. A grocery store was located near by and we were able to get most of what we needed to make our meals. Dee has a small bar next door and a small shop where you can get some basics. Dee was so friendly. A Howler Monkey troop came right onto the property one of the days and they were fun to watch. Another Howler Monkey troop spends most of its time across the street at Lloyd’s. Lloyd was happy to allow us on his property to check them out. The accommodations were great. There was a washer and dryer on site that worked well. We did not want to leave and we will definitely be back!

This beautifully designed lodge, on 4000 acres, is a unique experience. 107 free range horses, parrots, monkeys add to the ambience. Large , comfortable a/c rooms, friendly staff, good restaurant ,and lovely pool, make for a memorable stay. Convenient to many sites. Owner’s wife is an excellent artist and has a gallery there. We loved it!

Main problem was ongoing construction of two new cottages only a few feet from the single existing cottage. Savy lodge owners care about client comfort and do not rent when renovating. Lighting along boardwalk poor and I tripped over a fresh 3 ft tall gravel mound ( construction) walking to our car in the dark. The manager did not show us the cottage upon our arrival as all other 13 places we stayed in Belize did.

We arrived in the evening with another couple (we rented both Casitas) and there was only a key for one of them. Contacted the owner and they sent someone to bring the key to the other Casita about an hour later. The Casita had not been cleaned and we had to wait for it to be cleaned before we could bring our bags in. Needless to say after a long day of travel sitting in the covered porch area waiting for hours was frustrating. The Casita and grounds were as described. The Casita's themselves were inconsistently stocked with supplies. The drinking water is in 5 gallon jugs and you have to lift them up over your shoulders to put in the dispenser. There was no storage for luggage, the only cabinet is locked. We contacted the owner the day before we left stating that we heard a constant beeping underneath the Casitas the night before and was told they would have someone check on it. No one came and the beeping continued. We had to get up early (3:30) to travel to San Pedro to catch an early flight. The power went out before we got up so we were not able to take showers and had to pack up and leave in the dark. The issues we had are easily fixed. So, I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. The Casitas themselves are very cute and exactly what we were looking for in a stay out of the crowded downtown area of San Pedro.
