I rarely write negative reviews, but our experience at Paradisus Palma Real was alarming. During our stay around Storm Melissa, my wife bit into a piece of glass inside a sushi roll. We caught it in time, but this is a severe food-safety breach with potentially life-threatening consequences. We also observed flies on exposed items at the buffet on multiple visits—covered stations and active monitoring were clearly lacking. Finally, during the intense rains from the storm, no porters assisted with transportation around the property. There was no facilitation to reach our room, leaving us to trek through heavy rain with small children—completely avoidable at a resort of this category. Safety and basic service should come first. The hotel offered a one-night compensation conditional on signing a legal release of liability, which we declined—not the kind of paperwork anyone expects on a family vacation. I sincerely hope management immediately strengthens kitchen QA (including controls to prevent foreign objects and better pest management) and ensures proactive, weather-contingent guest transport during storms. Until then, I cannot recommend this property.

The resort overall was nice. There were a few areas that could be improved. The food wasn’t great but then we are very fussy eaters. The room was nice but could have been cleaner. There were ants in the counter and a cockroach came out in the bathroom but we called down to the front desk and they sent someone up right away to spray for them and it did kill it. Our concierge Leandro was amazing!!!! He was the best and always friendly and supper helpful! He definitely made the week very relaxing and stress free. Thank you!!!! The bar tender at the pool bar was sooo nice and the waitress at the buffet. We couldn’t have asked for better service!

As a frequent traveler and long-time admirer of the Meliá brand, I must say my recent stay did not meet expectations, especially after upgrading to The Reserve, which I believed would offer a superior experience. Our luggage took nearly three hours to reach the room, which upon arrival was not properly cleaned: there was paper left in the bathroom, no slippers, and missing towels. When we asked for replacements, we were told the hotel was full, which is unacceptable for a premium service. Thankfully, Kelvin, our concierge, personally ensured we received the missing items and provided exceptional support throughout our stay. The promised amenities (a bottle of wine and cookies) arrived late, and overall communication from some staff lacked the warmth and professionalism I associate with Meliá. Yoga sessions were limited, and the Friday class was canceled due to rain without any rescheduling. Despite these issues, the restaurant staff were excellent, always kind and attentive. However, I noticed no real distinction in the premium beverages included with The Reserve. Heavy rain also caused hallway flooding, nearly causing an accident. While I understand the circumstances, it highlighted a lack of preparedness. In the end, aside from Kelvin’s service, the upgrade added no real value the room design was identical, and the experience did not justify the price. I hope management reviews these gaps so The Reserve truly reflects the quality Meliá represents.

We really enjoyed our stay at this resort! It was our first time to the Dominican Republic. The resort was beautiful, clean, had an amazing staff, and we loved almost everything we had to eat or drink. We definitely had some staff that made us feel more like family than guests. Yuderi and Rafael on The Reserve beach, Franklyn our concierge, Judy at Mina Steakhouse, Rossanna at the Main Pool, and Carlos the best MC and all around good guy, we loved you all!! You made our trip so much better!!!

This property is beautiful and amazing. Close to the beach and My kids fully enjoyed swimming. I love to take a walk every morning we can see iguanas, turtles, some beautiful birds. We strongly recommend this hotel.
