Clean room with comfortable bed. Food was ok at buffet and Asian restaurant. Food was great at the steakhouse and Mexican restaurant. This is a budget all inclusive hotel that is a good value for the price paid.

Positive points: - Overall good sceneries and pools were nice and heated. - free Buffet food (3x a day) offers a wide variety of snacks, appetizers, desserts, and meals. If I could describe my experience its more like a gastronomical experience rather than for the beach. - Room we got was spacious and had a lot of furniture for our things. It came with a safebox that helped secure our valuable belongings whenever we are out. -kitchen staffs and waitresses were incredibly nice. If only we had more cash with us, we could have tipped them each time we go eat at the buffet or restaurant. Negative points: - the so-called personal buttler assigned to us wasn’t very responsive and failed to book the restaurant we were looking forward to eat at during our last night of stay. We weren't very demanding, we only messaged him for reservations of restaurants and one or two questions during our first day of stay. However, I do understand how things can get really busy as the hotel is always packed and the staffs could be assigned to more than 10 tenants at one day. So I still rated 4* for service for the kitchen staff and waitresses bc they're all very helpful and attentive to your needs. - design of bathroom isn't good. Water always sprays out of the shower onto the bathroom floor. - beachfront had tons of seaweed, couldn't swim 4/5 days we stayed.

Terrible food, terrible service, extremely rude staff. Ran out of pool towels every day. Hotel room was disgusting. Half the lights didn’t work, safe was broken, bathroom door didn’t close, patio door didn’t close, shower leaked all over the bathroom, sheets were dirty. Will never return again. Save the money and go elsewhere!!!

The beach is full of sea weeds and nobody is cleaning it. The whole place smells sewer everyday. Just don’t know if it is coming from the rotting seaweeds on the shore. The shower in the room is so weak. Most of the staff are not friendly except for one at the reception. No much food available for snacks and can’t even be brought out from the restaurant to be eaten outside like in the pool or room. The Karaoke team ignored our friend’s request to sing because his song was in English. They chose only those who sings in Spanish. They should treat everybody same. Always shortage of beach and pool towel everyday.

The grounds are beautiful… the staff wasn’t too bad. I must give and shout out to Ricardo he was amazing. Overall I didn’t not enjoy this resort. The rooms were dirty I changed rooms like 3 time for the condition and despite that,they couldn’t accommodate by upgrading my room. They kept moving me around in the same building. They decided to make it up was to give me a small bottle of cheap rum and some tshirts and reservation at one of their vip restaurants. I guess that counts for something. Not much to do and the food was absolutely horrible. I will not be going back. Worst resort experience ever.

Definitely not coming back ever again. We celebrate our wedding in this hotel, and the experience was tragic. Our room wasn’t cleaned after the getting ready, the staff wasn’t helpful at all, our room smelled like tobacco, the water came without pressure, the beach towels were never available, they are only interested in money and not give any good service at all. We had a pretty bad experience here. Don’t go.

Great hotel, the food was excellent, the amenities and the room was very clean. We went to another hotel the previous month and this one was definitely the best of them. Highly recommend if you are traveling with family or alone.

Occidental Punta Cana was OK, but far from the best we have experienced and far below what the pictures present. The specialty restaurants were good, but the buffets were disappointing. If you like bacon and sausage for breakfast, this is not the place for you. No bacon, and "sausage" was various forms of hotdogs. The pool was generally dirty (unvacuumed and floating scum in areas). This was partly due to the swim up bar that was usually surrounded by semi-drunk people who were spilling drinks and who knows what else. Towels were a big problem. We only had 4 clean beach towels all week for two adults. It was the 2nd day before we got a towel at all. My biggest disappointment was that many of the listed amenities did not exist or were only available to membership levels that are not available on Expedia. There simply was no gym, even though it is listed. There was no hot tub with public access, even though that is listed. Kayaking, sailing, and windsurfing are listed, but that means going to the neighboring property and paying. My family and I take a Caribbean vacation just about every year (40+ in the last 35 years). Occidental Punta Cana was not horrible, but it was far below other places that we have stayed in Punta Cana. My wife's general opinion was that they were always more concerned about saving a buck rather than ensuring the best experience for their guests. We got a great deal on the price, but that doesn't always result in the best vacation.
