The hotel is in an excellent location for visiting Old Portsmouth, Portsmouth and Southsea. The breakfast is ok, better than many places. The rooms however are very small, the bathrooms are tiny - we stayed in a premium room , I am not sure it would be legally possible for the other rooms to be smaller. At breakfast they managed to run out of regular tea bags.. how is that possible? In the bar they had no glasses for short drinks! The staff were never apologetic about the short comings. When we were unable to release the water from the shower/bath tub in the evening, we were told that we would need to wait till the morning to get it fixed, which would have meant that we were unable to use the shower during the heatwave! Again the staff are all reticent to apologise. The coffee machine (nice touch) did not work in either of the rooms we used. There was no toilet brush or shaving mirror. The phone’s in the room have the appearance of working but in fact they do not connect to reception! Why are they still there? Why in such tiny bathrooms do they insist on having baths (I am sure there must be a reason!)
In summary a hotel in a great location with reasonable facilities, tiny rooms and inexplicable supply problems and a sense that a lot of the staff (not all of them obviously) just do not care.
