With around 650,000 people calling the capital of Greece home, you'll have loads of chances. Porto Rafti is 25 kilometres east of central Athens. If you're coming in from Eleftherios Venizelos Airport, toss your luggage in the back of a taxi and journey 8 kilometres southeast.

There are a number of noteworthy things to look around in the immediate area, including the Metropolitan Expo and Sanctuary of Artemis at Brauron. Neighbourhoods are often the real beating heart of a city, so why not discover a few of them while you're here? Markopoulo Mesogaias, Vravrona and Kaki Thalassa are within close reach.

The Parthenon is most certainly among this biggest sights of Athens. Getting to it shouldn't prove a challenge, as it's situated just 0.8 kilometres from the city centre.
