The resort was not difficult to get to from SXM, we had a rental car. Entrance to resort is poor, both coming and going you need to exit heading east and then u-turn if you are heading west (to go anywhere but Great Bay cruise port direction). Shuttle cart drivers were all great. Beach is nice, clean, and sandy - not rocky at all. Pools are nice, well kept. Restaurants are limited in choice, and the food is not the best (although the pizza at Slice was delicious). We would definitely not do all inclusive here, at least not for the food. Rooms were dated (we stayed in 702 bldg 8, then transferred to 708 bldg 12 - both difficult to walk to) and both showed some age, but the new rooms on the west end of the property were new and more modern (they showed us 1411 on our sales pitch tour).
All in all, we loved St Maarten, but would probably at least look at other options to stay on a return visit.
