If you travel approximately 30 kilometres to the northwest of Omi, you will reach the buzzing city of Okayama.

Sitting 9 kilometres to the southwest, Kashima Beach is a terrific spot to spend a couple of hours enjoying the sound of the waves. Zenigata Sunae also boasts some gorgeous views. You'll find this strip of coastline 70 kilometres to the southwest.

The calming sounds of nature are waiting for you at Tsusen-en Garden National Park. It's located just 45 kilometres away, so you needn't be stuck in a car all day. Washuzan Hill, 40 kilometres away, is another recommended option.

Take a look around the pleasant landscape of Kankakei Summit Observation. Stopping by Olive Park will also be great for your physical and mental health.

Are you a huge sports fan? Then check the event schedule at Tamano Bicycle Racetrack, located 25 kilometres to the west in Tamano.

Take the chairlift to the top of Wakasu Kogen Oya Ski Area, soak up the white mountain scenery and then zoom back to the lodge. For even more action, spend time on the slopes at Wakasa Hyounosen Ski Area.

How do you like the sound of the Big Kannon Statue and the Tonosho Port? These awesome attractions are in Tonosho, just 7 kilometres southwest of Omi. Or maybe Olive Garden 1st Origin and Rikyuhachiman Shrine are more up your alley? To visit them, head to Shozu, 8 kilometres southeast.

Spend a bit of time at Akooishi Shrine, the Ako City Museum of History and Ako Castle Ruins. These attractions are all quite close to the middle of Ako, 30 kilometres away. Looking for more? The Kagakuji Temple and Breathing Well ought to also be on your to-do list.
