The queen suite was nice and large. The additional room was much bigger than I anticipated. The staff was nice and chill and it is in a great location. I would definitely stay here again and I recommend paying a little extra for the double queen suite… You get a refrigerator and a little sitting room with two chairs and a desk and a TV and a window and a door that you could close to do extra work or have a private phone conversation, etc.

Great NYC hotel

This is a charming and well-run hotel in a dream location. The adjoining NIce Matin restaurant is really excellent. Hotel Staff is attentive and warm. On this occasion We waited four hours to get access to our room on a busy summer Saturday, which we have not experienced before. Otherwise, all good.

The Lucerne is a simple, clean, and quietly elegant hotel. I have stayed there multiple times, in different rooms, and am always happy with the experience. No major frills or entertainments, just a good hotel on the UWS.

Not for the Solo Traveler

I chose this hotel for its proximity to The Beacon. I arrived early due to train schedule. Quite a few people, mostly family and groups were there waiting for early check in. I was offered luggage check in. I stayed in lobby for about an hour to recover from train (water, restroom, etc) and took luggage offer. During that hour, other customers arrived to seek early check in. I went to walk and they said they would call. I arrived back to an empty lobby (everyone checked in) and asked about my room. The desk person could not even find my name. I told him I had checked in earlier with someone else and in fact, they had my bag. He asked for my name again. Found it and curtly said "Your room will be available at 4pm, our posted check in time". This is classic solo traveler treatment. Being NYC, I would expect better. The lobby decor is boutique, lending some charm, but uncomfortable for long waits.

Pleasantly surprised. Excellent and friendly staff from the doorman, front desk and housekeeping. Room was very clean and comfortable and the neighborhood is perfect. Breakfast at the restaurant downstairs was a nice plus. This will be my permanent go to when I'm visiting NY.

The room was too small. No convenient plugs for our phones. No refrig or microwave in standard room. Loved the firm beds and good water pressure in shower. We chose not to upgrade to a suite/ too expensive.
