Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service, property conditions & facilities
When I visited this hotel several years back it wasn’t in the state it’s in now—just above a state of disrepair. The finishings were nice, featuring double shower heads and modern touches. Now those same finishings are falling apart. There was standing water in my shower with slow drainage which I mentioned to the front desk but they did nothing about. The bed was sunken in, in the middle. This was brought to the attention of the front desk but they didn’t offer to change my room or anything. The hotel reuses stained towels and bedding, giving an overall feel of uncleanliness. No one comes to clean your room unless requested. I was in town for a funeral of an immediate family member. I hardly had time to think about things like that. Housekeeping should be cleaning every two days (with or without a request). The staff can also take a crash course in hospitality. They don’t greet anyone and it’s apparent they don’t like their job. The first night of my four night stay, I noticed my pillows were dirty. I told the front desk and they sent someone up to give me pillowcases. I toughed it out because of convenience but my next visit to NY won’t be there.
