Pretty ok-ish

We expected to be sleeping in the schloss itself, but unfortunately the family rooms are in another building. We waited a couple of minutes at the reception, some of the staff does not speak English at all. One of our rooms reeked of smoke, clearly the previous tenants smoked there heavily. We were given a different room on another floor, which was clean. Rooms are spacious, bathrooms rather old-fashioned, curtains are tiny. Breakfast was ok, but there were tiny flies everywhere, which was a bit gross. Beds were ok. The prices were low enough to justify this pretty mediocre experience, but it’s a shame because it looked like a really nice place in the pictures. The highlights: Schwerin is nearby, and the fantastic Asian restaurant just up the street from the hotel (barely 4 minutes walk).

Outsiden condition of Building is rather poor. Small village with almost no other options. Our room was gone and they did offer us a smaller room that was totally dark and with very old furniture. The lowest has been, that the hotel had a wedding party ongoing and that they did close the restaurant for Guete that have not been part of the wedding group!!!! Totally innacceptable , since the village does not offer any other, valid alternate! Overall , a very lousy way of threatening guests and the current rating is at least one point too good!

Nice hotel in old manor surroundings

Staying in an old palace style mansion, but it has been very nicely renovated in to a hotel... I most often use this to relax a night when passing through Germany...Hotel is situated just a few minutes off the Autobahn between Berlin and Hamburg...but hotel and the surroundings are also well situated for exploring the area around... Very clean and with good breakfast...Free parking available just next to the hotel..The staff is friendly...However a big minus is that internet rarely works and I had problem with that every time i stayed there... Ps! make sure you get a room in the palace itself and not the annex, if you want to sleep in the "older" palace atmosphere... When entering Neustadt Glewe there is a radar control just at town entrance...be careful when driving into Neustadt!

Arrived too late to really enjoy the hotel amenities. Stayed in the Amthaus. From the outside it kept its historical image but inside all gutted and modern. Would have been nice to reflect the old inside with photos or paintings. Comfortable and clean. Close to the historical centre of town - including the "Burg" (Castle). A number of restaurants nearby and a walking / biking trail with a park.

Sofa bed was too firm for kids to sleep on. Has so much space in room not so much of counter space. Had the expression staying in palace but we got to stay in "mother inlaw" rooms :(. Breakfast buffet was nothing speacial. Must ask for cappuccino or you get table thermos coffee!

Good breakfast, bad wi-fi/phone

We stayed the night here as we were passing through Germany from Denmark. The only issue was there was no wi-fi in our room.. and the phone didn't work. And the front desk guys failed to tell me this before we went to our room. When I walked back to ask about the wi-fi, the desk worker very insincerely and flippantly said, "Oh, sorry, your wi-fi doesn't work. We don't know why. You can use the wi-fi here in the lobby." Umm, you could have told me when I checked in. Our room was in another building, an annex, so wi-fi in the lobby was not going to happen. The room was truly no frills, but comfy and warm and the bathroom was big with a nice shower. The breakfast buffet was wonderful, and the lady who worked down there was just wonderful.. very friendly to my family--thank you. We would stay here again, but perhaps the front desk personnel need a little help with customer service.

Magical Castle

I had been traveling for work for 26 days and wanted to get off the beaten path. The last night was spent I a gorgeous 400 year old castle. I and a colleague arrived late, but the kind woman and gentlemen at the front desk quickly provided a bottle of wine for us as requested even though the restaurant was closed. Also, we called ahead to see if it was possible to get a massage since it was advertised and they were quick to accommodate even with our late arrival (7:30 pm) The massage itself was fantastic and a very reasonable price. The rooms were gorgeous, the elegance of the castle took you back in time. The breakfast in the morning was served in the restaurant, must have been a dungeon or cold storage from its day and it was wonderfully charming and the food was tasty. Thank you for a wonderful time.
