Holidays in Nerin

Nerin is a place with plenty of cool stories to tell. If you reckon your life's been a bit dull lately, a trip here is the perfect answer!

If you venture 120 kilometres of Nerin, you'll find the important city of Andorra la Vella.

Mother Nature's handiwork is on display in multiple places around Nerin. Just 40 kilometres away, Pyrenees National Park is an excellent place to start. Pic du Midi de Bigorre sits 40 kilometres away and is another ideal spot for a bit of downtime.

Leave a plume of white powder in your wake as you glide down the slopes at Gourette Ski Resort. Die-hard skiers should also visit Candanchu Ski Resort.

Venture further afield and see what's going on in Fanlo, 2 kilometres to the north. Lots of visitors come here for Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park and Anisclo Canyon. Alternatively, Fiscal is 12 kilometres to the southwest of Nerin. Head to this place for easy access to Chapel Ermita de Jesús and Torre Costa de Fiscal.

Spend an afternoon exploring Sobrarbe Geopark Space, the Museum of Traditional Arts and Crafts and Ainsa Castle. All of these sights are not far from the middle of Ainsa, 20 kilometres away. Got some more time to kill? San Sebastian Church and Ainsa Main Square should also feature on your to-do list.

'There is no love sincerer than the love of food,' George Bernard Shaw once wrote, but throw travel into the mix and it's a marriage made in heaven. You're invited to indulge in two of your biggest loves by eating and drinking your way through Huesca.

If you're poring over a menu, there's a good chance you'll see dishes featuring olive oil or almonds. They're just two ingredients which are often used in the cuisine here.

During your time in Nerin, why not eat like a local? That means ordering a plate of chireta (spanish haggis) or bacalao al ajo arriero (baked cod with garlic), two of the region's distinctive dishes.

A meal is never truly complete without dessert, so don't worry about calorie counting for a while and savour one of the most well-known sweet treats, bizcocho de calatayud (sponge cake).

Take advantage of your time in the air by learning some words and phrases in the local tongue. Try to get your tongue around 'Muchas gracias'. It means 'thank you'. '¡Perdón!', which means 'excuse me', is another one you might need.

If you're considering heading to Nerin in October, you'll want to be here around the 12th for National Day. There's always lots of excitement in the air coming up to this national day of celebration.

You may be poor in European euros when it's time for your trip to end, but you'll be rich in amazing experiences. "Hasta la vista" Nerin!

Making it to your flight on time can sometimes be an ordeal. That being said, you should be right if you're prepared. The nearest terminal, Blagnac Airport (TLS), is 160 kilometres to the northeast.
